Privacy Policy

Compati ("we", "our", or "the app") is operated by Chris VanEron. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Compati mobile application.
Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Apple, we receive basic profile information (name and email) from that provider. We do not store your Apple password.
Apple Music library data
Compati requires access to your Apple Music library to function. With your permission, we read your library songs, playlists, listening history, and top charts to generate compatibility signals. This data is used to compute shared-taste cards (shared artists, peak year, hidden gems, and so on) between you and the person you pair with. We do not sell, share, or repurpose your music data for advertising.
Pairing and compatibility data
When you pair with another user via an invite code, we store a pairing record linking your accounts and the compatibility cards generated for the two of you. Either person can delete the pairing at any time, which removes the associated data.
Push notification tokens
If you enable notifications, we store an anonymized device token so we can notify you when your pair partner joins, when compatibility results are ready, or when a new card is unlocked.
Analytics and crash data
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix crashes. This data is anonymized and does not include your personal library content.

Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We use the following services solely to operate the app:
- Apple (MusicKit & Sign in with Apple): authentication and access to your Apple Music library, with your permission
- Firebase (Google): authentication, data storage, push delivery, crash reporting, and analytics
These services have their own privacy policies and are used in accordance with their terms.
Data Retention
Account data, pairing records, and compatibility cards are retained as long as your account is active. You can unpair at any time, which deletes the shared data between you and your partner. If you wish to delete your account entirely, contact us at the email below.
Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase security rules that restrict data access to authorized users. No method of electronic transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Children's Privacy
Compati is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. You can also revoke Apple Music access through your device settings at any time.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and the effective date will be updated accordingly.
