Terms of Service
Effective date: April 17, 2026
Welcome to Compati. By using the Compati mobile application ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Overview
Compati is a music compatibility app that pairs two Apple Music users and surfaces the artists, listening patterns, and moments they share. The app is operated by Chris VanEron.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old and have an active Apple Music subscription to use Compati. By using the app, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Accounts
You must create an account to use Compati. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Apple Music Access
Compati requires permission to access your Apple Music library. By granting this permission, you authorize us to read library songs, playlists, listening history, and top charts for the purpose of generating compatibility signals. You can revoke this access at any time through your device settings, though the app's core functionality requires it.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the app to harass, stalk, or harm another person
- Share invite codes with anyone you have not explicitly chosen to pair with
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app's systems or other users' data
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app
- Use the app for any commercial purpose without our written permission
- Interfere with or disrupt the app's infrastructure
We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.
6. Pairing and Shared Data
Compati is designed for pairs of two people. When you pair with another user, compatibility cards derived from both libraries become visible to both of you. Either person may unpair at any time, which removes the shared data.
7. Content Ownership
You retain ownership of your Apple Music library. Apple Music content itself remains subject to Apple's terms. Compatibility cards generated by Compati (shared artist lists, peak-year summaries, etc.) are provided for your personal, non-commercial use.
8. Availability
We strive to keep Compati available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The app may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control, including Apple Music service availability. We are not liable for any loss resulting from downtime.
9. Limitation of Liability
Compati is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to loss of data or pairing records.
10. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your account data and pairing records will be deleted.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and the effective date will be updated. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the app shall be resolved in the courts of the State of California.
